French Evening
French EveningOn Saturday 19th November 2016 the Community Choir put on a French Evening in Leigh Church. The evening included a short recital of French Chansons by baritone Ben Cooper, accompanied on the piano by Joshua Roebuck, and then the Community Choir sang two works by Gabriel Fauré - the Cantique de Jean Racine and the Requiem. Soloists in Fauré's Requiem were Sarah Kings, soprano and Ben Cooper, baritone. Joshua Roebuck accompanied on the organ, supported by a small group of instrumentalists, including local players and visitors from London. We all enjoyed a French-style finger buffet after the performance.
